Sesame Workshop At A Glance

Who We Are

Sesame Workshop is a nonprofit educational organization making a meaningful difference in the lives of children worldwide by addressing their critical developmental needs.

What We Do

The Workshop develops innovative and engaging educational content delivered in a variety of ways  — including television, radio, books, magazines, interactive media, and community outreach. Taking advantage of all forms of media and using those that are best suited to delivering a particular curriculum, the Workshop effectively and efficiently reaches millions of children, parents, caregivers, and educators — locally, nationally and globally.

Why We Do It

The Workshop is committed to the principle that all children deserve a chance to learn and grow; to be prepared for school; to better understand the world and each other; to think, dream and discover; to reach their highest potential.

How We Began

Sesame Workshop was founded over thirty eight years ago as Children’s Television Workshop. Identifying a specific need to help children from low-income families be prepared for school, the Workshop’s founders shared a common goal: to use the medium of television as a tool to help children learn. This group of visionary educators, researchers, psychologists, child development experts, artists, writers and musicians pioneered the concept of entertaining, enriching television that could measurably enhance the lives of millions of educationally disadvantaged youngsters. From this collaboration came Sesame Street — now one of the single greatest educators of young children in the world.

How We Do It

Research is our anchor and our compass. Sesame Workshop pioneered a model for Sesame Street that has proven successful for decades. We attribute much of that success to our collaborative, research-intensive approach to the development of programs and activities. The Workshop’s offerings reflect both a deep understanding of children’s developmental needs and the best ways to address those needs. As a result, Sesame Workshop’s programs and products are richer, more thoroughly researched and tested to ensure they engage children in a way that maximizes learning.

Who Makes This Possible

Of course, we can’t do it alone. Through the years, we have been fortunate to partner with like-minded leaders around the world who share our vision. Their commitment — and crucial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, governments, and licensees — make our endeavors on behalf of children possible, enabling us to bring our mission to life.

So here’s cheers to 40 years of Sesame Street!

ps; cookie monster rules :D <3

Dude, why do you make the same mistake?

Hmmm, I am currently annoyed at myself. I have realized a few things:

1) Ahh I am not very clear in my English. I need to connect the dots, so my readers understand what I am talking about. This relates to BOM and Eng. In BOM my teacher writes HOW and WHY against 5 sentences or something! It kind of annoys me and in some instances I have answered the question, it was just my English or rushedness that made it unclear! In english, we are doing an essay, my teacher says that I need to connect the dots for the readers- so they don’t have to guess what I’m saying. I guess sometimes when I am writing I just expect the reader to know what I am talking about and I almost always am very subtle in my writing- I don’t want to overkill by exceed the word limit by 1000 plus words :( .

2) I do all the crazy subjects that require a lot of analyzing?! Whyyyy! Do I really like analyzing? I really don’t know, it gets stressful sometimes as there’s just so much to talk about! gahh!

3) I forgot the other realizations….hhaha! Happy reading? :P

Pauline. That’s her name. Happy 16th birthday!!!!! Ahhh my long time christian buddy. haha :P . Well, I don’t recall how long I’ve known you actually. But it has been a joy sharing memories together. I just remember that I have gotten to know you a lot more this year and for that I am blessed! Btw biology is the best hey? *Thumbs up* And dude, I will never forget that moment we spent together in the library- cramming before the maths exam. We were so NERVOUS! LOL but wasn’t everyone else. I loved it how we were like let’s pray! So we simply devoted that time to God, giggling like girls, but that was an awesome God moment. We did well in that exam too eh? Well I don’t recall but I think I have done pretty good in most math exams. I don’t remember you telling me how you went though! Please do share :) . Pauline, continue shining your light for God! I’m sure he’s so happy for ya! Happy birthday again and here’s cheers to many more memories!

We must go, live to feed the hungry
Stand beside the broken, we must go
Stepping forward keep us from just singing
Move us into action, we must go

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners
